Young Organics is pleased to invite you to participate in an exciting opportunity to exchange your experience in organic agriculture with Peruvian students and farmers.

The Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, (Peru), the University of British Columbia (Canada) and The Peruvian Society for the Environmental Rights (Peru) are offering 4 young and enthusiastic people the opportunity to spend 2 months in Peru working and sharing experiences with Peruvian students and organic farmers. The exchange will take place between January and March 2012. The selected candidates will be based in Cuzco (2) or in Cajamarca (2).

The aim of this intercultural exchange is to

  • Encourage the sharing of experiences between organic farmers and young people at practical and academic levels
  • Promote an intercultural dialogue between young people concerned with agriculture and sustainability in the food system
  • Encourage young people to reconnect with food and agriculture from an organic perspective
  • Introduce future decision makers to the traditional Peruvian farming methods and to increase awareness about differences in organic farming practices in different contexts

The Project will provide

  • Food, accommodation and local transportation during your stay in your assigned station (Cuzco or Cajamarca).
  • Accommodation in Lima before and after the experiences. (For 7 nights in total, maximum)

You are an eligible candidate if:

  • You can show us that you are a young organic enthusiast eager to take on this opportunity! Please do so by telling us about yourself, what moves you and what do you expect from such an opportunity using one or both of these means: a motivation letter (300 to 600 words), a short video (5 to 10 minutes).
  • You can pay or fundraise for your own flight to Peru and back
  • You are an European citizen
  • You can speak and understand Spanish
  • You have practical or theoretical experience in organic agriculture (for example: from your studies, training, internships etc, but also from your own garden)
